As mandated by DEP, Washington Township is responsible to oversee that every on lot sewage disposal system located in Washington Township is pumped out at least one time every five (5) years, by a certified/pumper hauler. Information regarding the mandated pumping requirement can be reviewed on the township website. Washington Township Code of Ordinances (Chapter 18, Part 4, On Lot Subsurface Sewage Disposal Facilities,§18-407 Maintenance).

Property owner responsibility.

Contact a DEP certified pumper/hauler to schedule the pump out of the on lot sewage disposal system.

After the pump out is completed, provide the township with a copy of the pumping receipt (bill). Ask the pumper/hauler to include a statement on the pumping receipt (bill) verifying that the baffles of the on lot sewage disposal system (if applicable) have been inspected and found to be in good working order.

The pumping receipt (bill) may be mailed or hand delivered to the township office, deposited in the silver drop box located at the front entrance of the township building, or e-mail a copy to Washingtontownship@wtwp.org by December 31.
